2/18/2023 0 Comments Bgm added to gradius rebirthSeems kind of stupid, as you aren't scrolling through more than two weapons, so there's no need for a forward and reverse switch.Įdit: Part of the reason Hard Corps isn't as good, I thought, was having to juggle switching shooting types. Why they didn't map Aim to like A or B and Weapon Switch to the other one is beyond me. That seems like it could fuck you up too easily. I'm not sure I like holding the shoot button to stand still. Snowfield and Waterfall have some of the better music in the series. Just did a close to no death run of Contra 3. I stick with the Laser and Crush Missile on the first level, because those are the two most useful on the second level, flamethrower aside, which you can't get on stage 1. There's also planning with the weapons that you can do, and anticipate what kinds of enemies you'll be fighting. The only bullshit you can encounter in those is weird bullet trajectories (and in stage 5 of 3, falling off the cliffs), as opposed to not being able to differentiate whether that barrel is going to hit you or that bullet is on the upper or lower plane or whatever, as in 4 and to a lesser extent, Contra.Ĭontra 3's overhead levels catch a lot of flak for three reasons, I feel: they suck in 2-player, you can get pinned down crouching and die, and most people haven't figured out if you double-tap a shoulder button, you spin twice as fast. See, I liked the overhead levels in Super C and Contra 3. Contra 4 is pretty difficult to do a no death run on, as the aforementioned bullshit and the length really bite you. Still one of the best DS games of all time, and that's saying something.Ĭhallenge mode is aptly named, as that shit is rough. You're right about those levels being shitty, too. Holy shit everything unlocked? Fuck I thought I was good at that game, but even I can't bust a couple of those challenge levels. So much that I lost my original copy, with everything unlocked, and promptly went out, bought a second copy, and did that shit all over again. I guess what I'm trying to say is Harbor is broken. Clearly not hitting me, as in I was a good space away from his projected fist path, and before you call me on projected, you should know that with Contra, you figure that shit out pretty quick. The hitboxes are also weird, having been killed by the missile miniboss when he clearly did not hit me. Most notably is the stretch of Harbor with the robots between the sub mini-boss from Operation C and the Missile. There are sections of Contra 4 where you're on the bottom level of the stage, and if you hit down and jump, you fall through the floor and die. It's from the same team that developed the Advance series and the Rush series.Ĭontra 4 is one of my favorite games. It's arguably the best handheld Sonic game, being primarily Sonic 2-influenced. It was released in the US around the time of the Dreamcast's US introduction. Sonic Pocket Adventure? Wasn't that on nGage or some Asia-only handheld or something? "Like Mega Man 9, only with Sonic and in 16-bit" seems to be the general idea people seem big on. I know we've had those other games, but a) they aren't on consoles, and b) they don't exactly have "the look" of the old Sonic games, two things I know people have been clamoring for, and for quite some time at that. Instead of another shitty 3D Sonic game, I assume.Įxcept for the fact that Sonic Pocket Adventure, Sonic Advance 1-3, & both Sonic Rushes are more or less Sonic: Rebirth. He's saying it's a shame Sonic the Hedgehog isn't a Konami franchise if it were, we could get a Sonic: Rebirth. Pity Sonic the Hedgehog isn't a Konami thing, isn't it?
